Beyond marks

Marks tell you how a student performed. Insights tell you what to do next.

Teachers already know their students well. What’s missing is time — and a practical way to turn every answer sheet into a clear picture of what each student understands.

  • Assessment takes teacher time

Evaluating stacks of handwritten answer sheets, totalling marks and noting common mistakes takes hours that could go to teaching.

  • Marks don’t explain understanding

A score shows how a student performed on the day — not which concept they missed, or why.

  • Gaps are hard to see at scale

With many students and sections, spotting individual learning gaps and class-wide patterns consistently is difficult.

  • Parents need more than a scorecard

Parents often receive a number, without the context to know where their child is struggling or how they can help.

Questions

What schools usually ask us.

Honest answers about what Paatam does, what stays with the teacher, and where AI still needs a human check.

Does Paatam grade answer sheets on its own?

No. Paatam evaluates each answer against your school’s marking scheme and rubric: the answer key, the marks for each step, and what earns partial credit. It then suggests marks, feedback and learning insights, and a teacher reviews, edits and approves every result before it is final or shared with anyone.

Will Paatam replace teachers?

No. Paatam is built to support teachers’ expertise, not to replace it. It helps with the repetitive parts of evaluation so teachers can spend more of their time on teaching and on the students who need them.

How accurately can it read handwriting?

Handwriting varies widely, and readability also depends on the quality of the scan or photo. The AI can make mistakes, which is why the original answer sheet stays alongside every suggestion and the teacher has the final word.

Which classes does Paatam support?

We’re starting with schools serving students in Classes 6–12. Subjects and assessment formats are something we’ll discuss with each school, based on how it assesses today.

Which languages can students write in?

Tell us which languages your school’s assessments use. We’ll be clear about what Paatam supports today, and we won’t claim support we haven’t verified.

How do parents receive updates?

Once a teacher approves feedback, it can be shared with parents, including through WhatsApp. Nothing is sent to a parent without the teacher’s approval.

How is student information handled?

We treat student work as sensitive information. This website never asks for student data. When you talk to us about a pilot, we’ll explain how assessment data would be handled for your school.
